The gun could fire both armor piercing and high explosive projectiles, the latter having a range of 7,000 meters to provide the gun with a useful infantry support role. As the armor thickness of tanks increased, the Böhler increasingly assumed this infantry support role.

This was an automatic weapon and used a direct recoil system, so that bolt and barrel recoiled in different spaces. The cooler system was by air, but after some hundreds of rounds the barrel had to be changed. This weapon was produced from 1930-1937.

This weapon was designed after the Mod.14, but cooler system and caliber were different. It had a semiautomatic or automatic firing triggers. The barrel could have been changed after some thousands of rounds.
