Documenting the Italian political and military actions of World War Two

The Beretta Mod.34 Automatic Pistol was derived from earlier models like the Mod.15,19 and 23. The Mod.34 was safe and had sufficient stopping power. It had a semiautomatic system, and used 9mm rounds or 38 APC.

This was an automatic weapon and used a direct recoil system, so that bolt and barrel recoiled in different spaces. The cooler system was by air, but after some hundreds of rounds the barrel had to be changed. This weapon was produced from 1930-1937.

This weapon was designed after the Mod.14, but cooler system and caliber were different. It had a semiautomatic or automatic firing triggers. The barrel could have been changed after some thousands of rounds.

The Moschetto became more widespread in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Salò, partisans and Italian units fighting under Allied command. Its later version, called MAB 38/42 was lighter, shorter and had a higher rate of fire.

This was the standard “heavy” machine gun used from 1937 to 1945. The Mod. 37 used 8mm rounds and had a magazine of 20 rounds.
