in one of the polls here, its asked whats the best Italian tank. One of theoptions was the semoevente. I always have seen this refered to as a Self propelled Gun. Was it a tank, an SP or can an SP be considered a tank as well.
Thanks

Is a semovente also a tank?

The correct definition of Semovente is that it is a SPG, but, thinking about Italian Semoventi during IIWW, you can consider Semoventi also as a tank, because there ara no really good tanks and than Italians often used SPG as "normal" tanks.

Both Axis powers often used their assault guns in lieu of tanks. The Marder, the Sturmgeschutz III, the Nashorn, all filled in when tanks were not available. They made their PG divisions tougher.
