Does anyone know the sources of Italian oil in 1939?
I would be most interested in the percentages provided by each source.
In particular, I am trying to find out how important Western Hemisphere oil (from the USA, Venezuela, Mexico, etc.) was to Italy in the last year of peace.
Many thanks.
Sid.

I don't have the type of info right at hand. I would need to check around. Unfortunately, CARL here at the college is being renovated and I can no longer just walk over and peruse the stacks to find information (won't reopen until March of 2013).
Pista!

It is likely that much oil came from overseas. Italy had a large tanker fleet, however many of them were outside the Med when Italy declared war. A large part of them were lost, either scuttled or impounded.
