A selection of Fascist, Athletic & Other Awards
Fascist Campaign 1919-1922 “For Italy Now and Always” : Three versions… golden silver, silver, bronze. Found with bars 1919, 1920, 1921, 1922 as used on the Libia medal. The use of this medal was never authorized, but it was commonly worn by Fascists that participated in the movement from its foundation in 1919 until the establishment of the Fascist State in 1922
Meritorious Service in the Fascist Youth was rewarded by square crosses with blue or red enamel in the centre and the initials G.I.L. (Gioventu Italiana del Littorio) or O.N.B. (Opera Nazionale Balilla); the former was 40mm wide and the latter, for younger members, was only 37mm wide. A special ribbon, with broken stripes, was attached to these medals and the colour of the stripes identified the age group of the recipient.
Resource material on Italian Medals & Decorations is scarce, unlike its more famous Axis partner, Germany. This is our attempt to create the definitive on-line guide on the topic.
