'Morbegno' Battalion commemorative medal.
The Battalion was part of the 5th Mountain (Alpine) Regiment of Mountain Brigade "Tridentina". Unit organization dates back to 1886. During WW2 it stood guard in Western Alps and participated in Greek/Albanian fronts.

It was also part of the Italian contingent sent to Russia in 1942/43 where remarkably it did not get beaten during the Soviet offensive. Regiment was disbanded in September 1943.

Medal in bronze with blue/white enamelled accents to reverse. Inscribed: 'Fronte Occidentale 1940 - XVIII', reverse: 'Battaglione Alpini "Morbegno", Morbegno, Avanti, Savoia.

Albanian award, established 1942. Two variations, second variation does not have fasces.
